About the Event
A long time in the making, Dance Roots is an opportunity to dive more deeply into West African dance technique.
Dance Roots isn't about learning more dances. It's about deepening your understanding of how West African dance works from the inside out.
Just as a tree draws strength from its roots, our dancing becomes richer when we deepen our connection to its foundations.
Dance Roots is an invitation to return to the roots of the movement - grounded in relationship with the earth, rhythm, the body and tradition. Together, we'll explore the principles that give West African dance its vitality: groundedness, rhythm, structure and flow.
As those foundations deepen, so too can your dancing. You'll develop a practice that is more grounded, connected, efficient and alive, bringing greater clarity, power and ease to everything you dance.
